The room is still and quiet. No one has moved a muscle since I told them to leave. I break my gaze away from the beautiful stranger for a moment to glance around the room.

“You heard me,” I snarl. “Go home. I’ve picked my candidate already.”

I watch as the shocked applicants begin to slowly trickle from the room. I can see some of them glaring at me, some of them looking a little confused, but I couldn’t care less. They don’t understand. This beautiful woman stood out to me the moment I saw her. There’s something so special about her. I don’t need to know anything else. My gut is telling me that she’s the only one who can fill this position. Maybe I’m crazy. Maybe I’m losing my touch. Maybe the success of this company has gone to my head. But I’ve made the choice now, and there’s no going back.

Soon enough, it’s just me and her in the room. I finally take another step toward her and hold out my hand for her to shake.
